Aerating Your Fescue Lawn? Use These Irrigation Tips
‘Tis the season to reseed your fescue lawn! If you’re gearing up to grow fescue grass at your property, there are a few easy wins you can get to enjoy your lawn at its most lush.
Your Steps to Lawn Success
You’ve planted your seeds and you’re ready for a lush, beautiful, and rich green lawn. But there are a few steps you need to take to ensure that your vision is met with success. Follow these tips:
- Irrigate your lawn every single day. This is an essential way to germinate the seed.
- Better yet, program your irrigation controller. Our team has worked with Raleigh area properties for years, and we’ve cracked the code for success: Program your system to do short runs, three times a day. After ten days, bring it down to two times a day. Finally, as the seed matures, dial it back to one time a day. Our team is always here to support your programming needs.
- Don’t let the seed dry out! Your seed should never be dry until you see it germinate.
- Ensure the rain sensor is working correctly. Over-watering is the enemy of successful germination. Doctor Sprinkler provides rain sensor repair and maintenance if needed.
- Monitor, monitor, monitor. This is a suggestion, but not an airtight formula. If you see that your lawn isn’t maturing as you like, then it’s perfectly reasonable to make adjustments.
Remember, your goal is to keep the seedbed moist. You don’t want to washout the seed, and you don’t want the existing turf to rot. Balance is key.
One Insider Tip…
If you have any bare areas on your lawn, cover it with a little peat moss. This will help the area retain moisture and accelerate growth.
